Rebecca Lim, Rahimah Rahim, Gavin Teo, Chen Yixin & More To Perform At Gardens By The Bay & Mediacorp National Day Concert

Celebrate Singapore’s 56th birthday with the Gardens by the Bay and Mediacorp National Day Concert 2021 on Aug 9 (Mon) at 8pm, Mediacorp Channel 5, meWATCH and meWATCH YouTube.

Hosted by Class 95 DJ Jean Danker, the hour-long virtual show — graced by Guest-of-Honour President Halimah Yacob and her husband Mohamed Abdullah Alhabshee, and filmed throughout the park — will feature pre-recorded performances by Rahimah Rahim, Gavin Teo, Chen Yixin, Shabir, Keyana, Jack and Rai, Kitty Purrna, and Tyen Rasif.

Special moment: Rebecca Lim presenting an Aranda ‘Gardens by the Bay’ orchid to President Halimah Yacob and Mr Mohamed Abdullah Alhabshee during the recording of the ‘Gardens by the Bay and Mediacorp National Day Concert’.

Among the highlights is Rebecca Lim's rendition of Corrine May’s ‘Song for Singapore’. The segment will include a National Day greeting by President Halimah Yacob.

In a statement, President Halimah said: “In spite of challenges brought on by the pandemic, Gardens by the Bay and Mediacorp have sought to connect Singaporeans through engaging programmes such as the National Day Concert.

I hope this year’s concert, with its forward-looking theme, will continue to rally our nation and encourage all of us to stay strong, united, and push ahead together towards a better future.”

Between the song and dance numbers, representatives from social enterprise, The Social Kitchen, and social service agency, Brahm Centre, as well as horticulturists from Gardens by the Bay, will share inspiring stories of how to they find ways to live more sustainably. (Look out for a cameo by a family of otters at Marina Bay.)

Sing, Singapore, sing: The concert line-up also includes R&B singer Keyana and indie-pop chanteuseKitty Purrnaz.
