It doesn’t matter how advanced you are in your yoga practice, heading to a uber-chic studio is something that anyone from a crow pose expert to shavasana aficionado would appreciate. And it just so happens that there’s a vibrant new yoga studio that has recently opened conveniently in the middle of town.

Yoga Movement’s new flagship studio on Handy Road (right next to The Cathay) is 6,000 sq ft of light, bright space that was formerly occupied by an art gallery. It also happens to be the biggest of its six studios islandwide. Over 80 classes are held here weekly, from signature classes like Basics and Power Flow to themed pop-up classes.

This is the first thing that greets you when you enter, a hint of what's to come. Nope, this isn’t your regular Scandi-inspired yoga studio. Why have a run-of-the-mill reception area when you can up the ante with a Pinterest-worthy irregular-shaped one cloaked in warm hues of terracotta brick tiles?
There are three practice rooms at the YM flagship. The main studio is a show-stopper with its soaring seven-metre-high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows that allow for tons of natural light to pour in, and a cool feature wall that will probably be the star of many Instagram posts.
Wallpapered walkways? All the better to take those yoga OOTDs.
The entrance to the changing rooms are clad in on-trend botanic print wallpaper as well.
How do you elevate bathroom mirror selfies? Throw in splashes of terrazzo and cute blob-shaped mirrors.
Even shower cubicles are photo-worthy. Just keep things PG, please. You don’t have to worry about safe distancing here — the bathroom, decked out with 11 showers and more — is so massive, it could be an entire apartment on its own.
Arched features are all the rage in interior design these days. Home inspiration while you dry your hair after a shower? Why not?
The chillout patio overlooking Orchard Road is the prime spot for pre-, post- or no class hangs. Yes, the breezy outdoor space, which is part of the studio’s in-house café Yoga Movement Coffee Bar, is open to the public as well. Cafes aren’t a new feature at YM (its Robertson Quay outpost has a tie-up with Common Man Coffee Roasters), the Yoga Movement Coffee Bar at the flagship is the yoga chain’s first coffee bar, serving up coffee, juices and light bites.
Even the merch stand is picture-perfect.
