This Secondhand Furniture Store Is A Fave Among Savvy Shoppers — And It Has Finally Launched Its Online Shop

When it comes to buying cool secondhand furniture or vintage knick knacks to spruce up the home, people in the know would make a beeline for Hock Siong & Co.

The secondhand furniture shop, nestled in a non-descript industrial building in Macpherson, is a favourite among bargain hunters, interior stylists, and cool cats looking for unique pieces that could double up as conversation starters at their next dinner party. Here you'll find pre-used furniture and vintage home decor items, whether it’s a mid-century sofa for $680 or kopitiam chairs for $80, sourced mostly from hotels and homes.

While most, if not all, items on sale are pre-loved, Hock Siong's second-generation proprietors also refurbish certain heritage pieces to add a modern touch. Add to that the thrill of ambling through its narrow aisles to hunt down unexpected finds in its eclectic mix of offerings, and you’ll see why it’s gained its own cult following (the store has over 33k followers on Instagram). However, all that came to a grinding halt in April when the store had to shut temporarily during the circuit breaker.

But Hock Siong fans will be delighted to know that the store has just launched its online shop today (June 8). You may not be able to rifle through the bargains at the brick-and-mortar store, but you can scroll through over 100 items that are available online, from furniture and antiques to quaint décor items and curios such as vintage luggage.

Islandwide delivery is free to a lift landing or ground location for a single purchase of over $300. Orders below $300 will incur a $10 to $40 delivery charge, depending on the items purchased. Delivery takes about one to three days. If you change your mind and decide to return an item, you will be able to get a refund but note that a 15 per cent restocking fee will be charged for all returns to cover administrative and handling costs, according to its website.
