Sheng Siong Selling Gigantic 75-Piece Pack Of Abalones For CNY
Abalones for pen cai, abalones for instant noodles, abalones for everything.
Chinese New Year is around the corner (Feb 1, in case you didn’t get the memo). If you’re stocking your fridge for reunion dinner, supermarket chain Sheng Siong is selling a gigantic 900g pack of individually quick-frozen abalones for $66.88.
That’s a lot of abalones
Now, the caveat is that these abalones are pretty small in size. A label on the pack indicates that each abalone weighs around 11g to 13g (we estimate it’s around 5cm-long). We counted 75 abalones in one pack, which works out to about 90 cents a piece. Not a bad deal if you want to zhng your midnight instant noodle supper.
The provenance
The abalones are also imported from China (countries like Japan, Australia, Mexico and New Zealand are more well-known for their premium - and much pricier - abalones). The pack's shelf life is till June 2023 according to the product label, so you have around one and a half years to finish 'em up.
Available in 10-pc pack
If 75 abalones are just too much for you, there’s also a 10-piece pack going for $9.99. A Sheng Siong staff tells 8days.sg that these abalones are available at all outlets, so grab it while stocks last.
