Stunt Actress Renounces Taiwanese Citizenship For A Mainland Chinese One; Calls Herself A “Daughter-In-Law Of The Motherland”

Melody Chen Chuying is definitely super patriotic.

Stunt actress Melody Chen Chuying, who has been the body double for stars like Shu Qi and Ivy Chen, recently got the attention of netizens when she announced that she will be renouncing her Taiwanese citizenship and is “looking forward to officially becoming a citizen of the People’s Republic of China soon”.

In her Weibo post, the 37-year-old shared that ever since she was young, her teachers have taught her to be “an upright Chinese person” and gushed about how “the Motherland can be as strong as it is today” thanks to the “party members and compatriots who dedicated their youths and lives to uphold the spirit of serving the people”.

“The Motherland is bound to be unified, and the chaos in Taiwanese society will surely be eased after the reunification,” she wrote. “Taiwan’s youths deserve a real platform for development and a society that is harmonious and not split.”

Sure enough, Chiu Chui-cheng, the Deputy Minister of the Mainland Affairs Council, stated that Melody’s Taiwanese household registration will be cancelled in accordance with the law, to which she responded: “That’s what I’ve always wanted.”

Then, on Wednesday (Feb 23), Melody revealed that she had married a Chinese man on the very auspicious 22/2/2022 — yup, it was a very popular day to get hitched — and proudly called herself a “daughter-in-law of the Motherland’s Shandong province”.

“Thank you for all the blessings from my hometown in Taiwan Province,” she said. “There are many dreams to be fulfilled in China in the future. My biggest hope is for a peaceful early reunification.”

She also shared a video montage of photos of herself and her new husband, who’s known only as Mr Zhang and whom she said was from “a martial arts school”.

Melody once shared about her plans to obtain a resident identity card in China and thanked those who have been supporting her, but she also had some pretty harsh words for Taiwanese netizens who presumably weren’t as thrilled with her decision.

“Do you really want to eat American pork (with the animal feed additive Ractopamine) and radioactive Japanese food? Is it dignified for the Taiwanese to live such an oppressed life?” she scoffed. “I’m very fortunate to be Chinese and be able to return to the Motherland and live there.”
