Style Evolution: JJ Lin

While his talent and success have remained consistent, JJ's style and physique sure have changed over the years.

JJ Lin has come a long way since he made his singing debut more than 19 years ago. Not only is the homegrown singer-songwriter now one of the biggest stars in Mandopop, but he is also a successful towkay and is raking in the big bucks. While his talent and success have remained consistent, his physique and style sure have changed over the years. As he turns 41 today (Mar 27), we look back at his evolution from boy-next-door to Hypebeast.

  • Debut: 2003

Fresh off his debut, JJ wooed the crowd with his flawless vocals as well as an oh-so-trendy outfit consisting of a summer scarf, a sleeveless black shirt, and river wash denim.

We completely forgot that JJ once sported spiky hair.

  • Pre-2010

JJ’s “Cao Cao” era was perhaps his most stylistically experimental, as he tried everything from waistcoats with sleeveless shirts, to fedoras, to feathered locks.

JJ’s tartan shirt, silky suit, and Bieber hair might have blended in with the photo wall, but considering how each of those elements have aged, that’s probably a good thing.

At a Red Cross charity event championing single-parent families, JJ wisely threw on a black blazer over a khaki top and pants.

Again, we’re not sure what’s going on with those pants, but JJ sure can rock a skinny tie.

You know what they say about real men and pink. We’re not sure about the penguin-esque effect of those high-waisted pants and black waistcoat though.
