Tony Leung, Jacky Cheung, Faye Wong Surprise Fans By Showing Up On Call Me By Fire 2 To Support Their Showbiz Pals

The star power this season is astounding.

The list of stars competing in the second season of Chinese reality competition Call Me By Fire, which aired last Friday (Aug 19) definitely did not disappoint.

From '90s pop icons Richie Ren, Alex To and Alec Su, to noughties Taiwanese heartthrobs Wilber Pan and Vanness Wu, as well as the return of season 1's winners Jordan Chan, Julian Cheung and Lee Cheng Xuan, this season's line-up looks like a dream come true for pop culture fans.

But if you think that's impressive, wait till you see who these stars have as their "cheerleaders".

When the Heavenly King says you're perfect... what more can you ask for?

Just like last season, the production team invited the family and closest friends  of the contestants' to say a few words of encouragement.

(Remember when Jerry Yan's Meteor Garden girlfriend Barbie Hsu recorded a message to cheer him on in season 1?)

This season, one star's friends list stole the show.

Before Alex To's debut performance on the Call Me By Fire stage, the crowd went wild when they heard someone say: "Hello Alex, I'm Jacky."

Yes, that's Heavenly King Jacky Cheung.

"I hope that after participating in Call Me By Fire 2, you'll learn to... What can you learn? You're perfect in my heart," said the singer.

Think Jacky is the only superstar rooting for Alex? Wrong.

Tony Leung had recorded a video just to cheer his pal Alex on

In a separate video, Alex's other pal, screen god Tony Leung, also had some words to relay to the singer.

"There's nothing you have to change about yourself, just be you," cheered Tony, who also happens to think that Alex is "perfect".

Needless to say, Jacky's recording and Tony’s video left Alex’s fellow contestants starstruck and overawed.

Faye Wong has someone she's rooting for too?

Meanwhile, Chinese rocker Zheng Jun's celebrity cheerleader also left viewers awestruck.

"Is it Old Zheng? I'm Old Wong," quipped — wait for it — Chinese pop diva Faye Wong.

She then asked the rocker if he had "gone to cut [his] way through thistles and thorns", which is the literal translation of the show's Chinese title, before telling her pal to "take care" and "have fun".
