Too much skin? Pics of Chinese stars Zhou Dongyu and Yu Shi edited to make them look more covered up for Golden Rooster Awards
Why so conservative?
The highly-anticipated Golden Rooster Awards, China's equivalent of the Oscars, will be held today (Nov 4) in Xiamen.
The who’s who of the Chinese cinema are expected to grace the prestigious awards ceremony, including stars Zhou Dongyu, 31, and Yu Shi, 26.
Promotional materials for the awards have been making the rounds online in recent weeks.
However, fans noticed something amiss about Dongyu and Yu Shu's outfits: They have been Photoshopped to make the stars more, er, covered up.
Dongyu had her bared shoulders and cut-outs at her waist covered up.
Spot the difference
Meanwhile, Yu Shi, like every fashionable guy out there, was shirtless underneath his suit jacket.
However in the new pic, a white tee was Photoshopped in to cover his bare chest.
His earrings were also edited out.
Is this really necessary?
While netizens were amused by the Photoshopped pics, many questioned the need to be this conservative.
“Have we returned to the Qing Dynasty?” asked one netizen, while another commented, “They must be afraid the stars would catch a cold now that the weather is chilly”.
