TVB actress Alice Chan is getting married to her doctor boyfriend of two years.

According to reports, Alice’s now fiancé Aldous Chan, 44, proposed with a three-carat diamond ring and 99 red roses during her 48th birthday bash yesterday (Nov 21). It’s said that he managed to keep the proposal a secret from Alice with the help of her pals, actresses Rebecca Zhu and Eliza Sam.

Alice also commemorated the happy moment with an IG post, where she showed off her engagement ring. “Blessed to have you,” she wrote (about Aldous, not the ring, if that wasn't clear).

This will be the second marriage for Alice. In 2008, she got hitched to Taiwanese businessman James Yen and dropped out of showbiz. They divorced four years later following which Alice made her return to acting.

It's said that Alice met Aldous through TVB actor Wong Chi Yin — Aldous and Chi Yin own an aesthetics clinic in Central, Hongkong together —and they were friends for a year first before dating.

Like Alice, Aldous was also married before. He has two daughters with his ex-wife.

The media first got wind of Alice and Aldous' relationship in July 2019 when the actress was spotted holding hands with a man at a medical conference in Bali. When asked about it, Alice admitted that she’s in love and even told reporters Aldous’ name.

The Hongkong media are also saying that the couple are “financially compatible”.

In November, Alice bought an apartment in Taipo for “tens of millions of dollars” and the couple are said to be living there. It was also reported that Aldous had endowed Alice with a fund worth at least HK$10mil (S$1.7mil).

Alice got her start in showbiz after winning the Miss Asia pageant in 1996. She then signed a contract with ATV, where she quickly became one of the station’s most popular stars. In 2012, she became a TVB artiste and won the Most Popular Female Character award at the 2018 TVB Anniversary Awards for her role as the evil Princess Taiping in Deep in the Realm of Conscience.
