We're sure many TVB fans from the noughties miss seeing Hong Kong actor Sammul Chan on screen.

The now 46-year-old was one of the broadcaster's most popular leading men of that era, and often starred alongside fellow siu sangs such as Ron Ng, Raymond Lam and Kenneth Ma.

Best known for his roles in dramas like The Academy and Triumph in the Skies, Sammul left TVB in 2010 and shifted the focus of his career to China.

His career took a backseat when he was diagnosed with a heriditary cerebrovascular disease in 2018, and two years later, he retired from showbiz.

In 2022, there were reports that he became a diving instructor and was responsible for the drowning of one of his students.

Sammul declined to address the reports and has kept a low profile ever since.

While he has an Instagram account, he rarely posts snaps of himself.

Until this week.

On May 28, the star surprisingly shared a rare mirror selfie with the caption: "When you don’t expect anything from anyone, you live much better!"

The location tag revealed that he was in Australia.

Sammul sported blonde hair and was in a baggy black jacket and shades. The words "Faith. Hope. Love" were emblazoned across his face in the photo.

Fans were delighted to see an update from Sammul, with many commenting that they miss him.

Sammul's pal, Hong Kong star Vivian Chow couldn't resist teasing him about his elusiveness, saying: "Finally showing half your face."

Sammul's response? "It's my entire face please."

If you say so, Sammul.

Will you be able to recognise Sammul if you saw him on the streets like that? The last time Sammul posted a selfie of himself was in July 2022 That said, a netizen had spotted the actor, who already had blonde hair at that time, at the Canada Airport a while back In case you forgot, this is how Sammul used to look when he was still with TVB Sammul in The Academy (2005). He was so cute Photos: Sammul Chan/Instagram, hk01
