Looks like the dust has yet to settle for Hong Kong airline Cathay Pacific, two weeks after three of their flight attendants were criticised for discriminating and making fun of non-English speakers on their flight.

A number of Chinese celebs have since spoken up, sharing their negative experience with the carrier, including Chinese actress Huang Lu.

Now, Hong Kong actor Kenny Ho, 63, best known for playing Zhan Zhao in 1993 long-running drama Justice Bao, has stepped up to share his two cents.

In a short video, Kenny, who has been based in China for the past decade, and owns a thriving health food business there, questioned: “Why do I have to learn English to communicate with [foreigners]?”.

He shared that if foreigners want to do business in China, the first thing they should do is to learn Chinese.

“Many countries are using the Chinese yuan to do business now, and you’re coming from abroad to do business with us in China, [so] why wouldn’t you learn Chinese. Why do I still have to speak to you in English? Don’t put your cart before the horse,” he said.

He added: “For example, if [my company] were to go to the US, to go overseas and do business with other people, then we’ll have to at least learn some English, right?”

Kenny’s words were very well-received by Chinese netizens, with many agreeing with the actor.

“After watching this video, I’ll become your fan forever, my son will become your fan too,” one overjoyed netizen wrote.

It was previously reported that Kenny’s business is doing so well he’s a multi-millionaire now. And judging from the pictures on his Weibo, the actor frequently flies for work too. 

Guess he won’t be taking Cathay Pacific in the future.
