Wong Cho Lam Reportedly At Odds With TVB Execs Over Linda Chung’s Best Actress Loss

To avoid getting caught in the power struggle, the actor-turned-TVB's Chief Creative Officer is said to have turned his focus on helping artistes further their careers in China.

Hongkong star Wong Cho Lam has had his plate full since he was appointed TVB’s Chief Creative Officer last January.

In the past year, he has been assisting General Manager Eric Tsang in developing the station’s variety and infotainment shows, and has launched a series of variety shows like Have A Big Laugh and Dub Of War, which were well-received by viewers.

While he seems to be fairing pretty well in his new position, the internal power struggle at the broadcaster is reportedly taking a toll on him.

According to reports, Cho Lam has been in conflict with TVB executives Virginia Lok and Catherine Tsang over Linda Chung's Best Actress loss at the TVB Anniversary Awards in January.

Linda, 37, made her return to TVB with drama Kids’ Lives Matter last year and was the hot favourite to win Best Actress.

Cho Lam even persuaded Linda, who now lives in Vancouver to return to Hongkong for the awards ceremony, however, both Virginia and Catherine were allegedly against the drama winning both Best Actress and Best Drama.

Best Actress eventually went to Rosina Lam for her role in Battle Of The Seven Sisters, while Linda took home the Malaysia’s Favourite TVB Actress award, which many saw the consolation prize.

There has long been talk that Virginia and Catherine have been at war with each other for years and so to avoid getting caught in their power struggle, Cho Lam is said to have turned his focus on helping TVB artistes further their careers in China.

He is currently on an “exchange” programme in Shanghai with Vincent Wong, Owen Cheung and Samantha Ko. According to reports, he will be based there for a while and will act as their agent to secure projects for artistes in the mainland.
