The world’s first Jumanji-inspired theme park opens in the UK

It’s called World of Jumanji.

Rollercoaster junkies rejoice! The world’s first Jumanji theme park has opened — in the UK

Housed in the Chessington World of Adventures Resort, World of Jumanji — inspired by the 1995 movie about a magical board game (and later a videogame in the 2017 reboot) that transports its players to an alternate universe — opened to the public on Monday (May 15). The resort is about 37 minutes from London by car.

The attraction consists of three new rides — Mandrill Mayhem, the world’s first Jumanji rollercoaster that turns riders upside down at 68km/h; Ostrich Stampede, “a ride that sweeps guests in a circle while bumping them up and down in a motion that echoes the feel of a stampeding ostrich” (per Variety); and Mamba Strike, “which visitors are swept skywards before swooping back down in a circular motion”.

Guests planning to extend their stay can check into Jumanji-themed bedrooms at the Chessington Safari Hotel.

There are also other activities themed around the franchise, including a maze of pathways modelled on the boardgame n the original Robin Williams-starring movie, and a refreshment stand selling themed snacks.

Admission is at £60 (S$100) per ticket, or £34 if you buy it online.

Ride on: The three adrenaline-pumping rides Mandrill Mayhem, Ostrich Stampede, and Mamba Strike — at World of Jumanji.

If the UK is too far for you, then there’s Columbia Pictures Aquaverse in Thailand.

The waterpark — located in the seaside town of Bangsaray, about 20 minutes from Pattaya and 90 minutes from Bangkok — is home to many rides and attractions inspired by Sony Pictures’ popular franchises, including a wild jungle-themed water slide called Jumanji Zone.
