Futu SG, Shopee join hands in one-of-its-kind partnership for 10.10 campaign

The collaboration with homegrown e-commerce platform Shopee is part of Futu SG’s commitment to sink roots in the city-state.

As Singapore joins the rest of the region in the online economy boom fuelled by the pandemic, several companies have come together for innovative partnerships as they seek to cater to the increasingly digital-savvy consumer.

Two such businesses are fintech company, Futu Singapore (Futu SG), which offers investment products for trading via the moomoo platform, and Shopee, a leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan.

Pandemic-related tailwinds have resulted in both an e-commerce and retail investing boom, which has contributed to more take-ups and engagement of the respective platforms of the two companies.

DELIVERING NOT ONLY ATTRACTIVE REWARDS, BUT MEANINGFUL ONES

Everyone loves the thrill of finding a good bargain online, but what if shopping could go beyond discounts and deals and set you on the path to investing and growing your wealth? The 10.10 campaign collaboration, from Sept 22 till Oct 10, allows Shopee users to stand a chance to win Tesla, Facebook or Coca-Cola stocks and get introduced to investing via the moomoo platform when they successfully redeem these free stocks won.

Shopee users have an opportunity to win these stocks with every dollar spent. On Oct 10, users enjoy two chances with every dollar spent. There are over 600 free stocks to be won.

In addition, Shopee users who are already existing moomoo users will receive 180 days of free commission and can use their in-app moomoo reward points to redeem Shopee vouchers. With a total of S$75,000 worth of Shopee vouchers to be given away, shopaholics can rejoice.

FINDING SYNERGY IN THEIR DIGITAL-FIRST BUSINESSES

The “customer comes first” adage holds true especially for Futu SG and Shopee – both digital-first businesses dedicated to creating user-centric experiences rich in value and engagement.

Shopee connects shoppers, brands and sellers to offer a range of products and deals especially curated to meet the needs of customers across the region.

Futu SG’s moomoo app – which allows users to trade US, Hong Kong and Singapore stocks, as well as a range of other investment products including China A-shares, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and real estate investment trusts (REITs) – aims to provide investors of all levels with an intuitive and powerful investing platform that is backed by innovative technology.

Reflecting the success of their efforts to add value to their users and communities, both Futu and Shopee recorded strong business momentum in the first half of the year. Futu SG’s managing director Gavin Chia said that the 10.10 campaign collaboration comes on the back of key milestones unlocked by Futu and Shopee in recent months.

Mr Chia is bullish about the collaboration’s appeal to a new group of customers: “Futu Singapore is growing rapidly, with over 220,000 users, including 100,000 paying clients in Singapore. But there is still a large, untapped segment of customers whom we can get on the moomoo app to help the next generation of investors achieve their long-term, sustainable wealth management goals.”

Noting Shopee’s commitment in providing a “personalised, engaging and social experience” for all, Mr Chua Cheng Xun, head of marketing for Shopee Singapore, said: “We are excited about this collaboration with Futu Singapore, and to have a partner in the online financial services field that will allow us to deliver not only attractive rewards to our users, but also meaningful ones that will resonate with them.”

A COLLABORATION THAT DELIVERS GREATER VALUE

As an investing platform known for its comprehensive suite of educational resources, moomoo lets users browse investment courses, guides, news and videos from leading finance-related media, as well as attend live tutorials – whereby Futu SG teaches investors how to use the different features on the platform to trade – and broadcasts of company announcements and other industry events.

The platform also offers insights into stocks with the most gains in any set time frame, best-performing industries in various stock markets as well as leading REITs and ETFs, among other advanced, tech-driven features.

Users also have access to free real-time market data, and to a global community of fellow investors to exchange insights and share thoughts on investment-related topics.

Mr Chia believes that the 10.10 campaign collaboration will help both Futu and Shopee to tap on each other’s growing customer base to benefit the users and communities on both platforms, and hopes that this will be the first of many collaborations to come.

Said Mr Chia: “We want to continue finding local partners to work with in the Singapore market in win-win partnerships that can help both parties to achieve greater heights.”

Futu SG is fast rooting itself in the Singapore market, and looks set for more industry as well as cross-industry collaborations in the months ahead.
