SINGAPORE — Vasantham’s annual dance competition, Dhool, ended its run on Sunday with a record number of viewers and the topic trending on Twitter (Singapore).

“The Dhool V dance competition finale reached out to more than 130,000 viewers and is the highest rated local programme on Vasantham this year,” said MediaCorp’s Chitra Rajaram, Senior Vice-President, Indian Broadcast Division.

Four all-male dance groups competed at the finals, held on Sunday evening at the MediaCorp TV Theatre, but it was TGIF that took the championship trophy and more than S$40,000 in prizes, including a S$25,000 cash prize. The group were a hit with their song F2DC, specially composed for them by popular musician, Shabir.

The results were determined by judges Sree Devy, Selva, Venga and Ajith Bhaskaran Dass, whose votes counted for 80 per cent of the total; and public telepoll voting made up for the remaining 20 per cent.

“The channel is glad that it is able to engage and reach out to Indian youth with (such) programmes,” added Chitra. “Seeing the sheer determination and excellent teamwork put in by the teams, Vasantham is proud to have provided a platform for them to showcase their talent.” May Seah
