SINGAPORE — It’s time for Malay pop music fans to get their votes in again, with the return of Anugerah Planet Muzik (APM0 — the awards show that honours the best of today’s hottest talents in the region’s Malay music industry.

This year, all eyes will be on Singapore singer Awi Rafael, who leads the nominations list with six nods, including Most Popular Artiste (Singapore) and Most Popular Song (for Kalau Aku Kaya). Following closely behind are Malaysian singers Altimet and Hafiz, as well as Indonesian alternative rockers, Noah, with five nominations each.

This is the 13th instalment of the popular annual awards show and a total of 19 awards will be presented at APM 2014, one more than previous editions, with the Best Collaboration category now split into two distinct categories: Best Collaboration (Artiste) and Best Collaboration (Song).

“APM continues to be a breakthrough for the region’s superstars and stars in the making. With the introduction of an additional award to recognise collaborative works, we hope APM will be the catalyst in synthesising various sounds of the Nusantara region,” said Zakiah Halim, Senior Vice-President of MediaCorp’s Malay Broadcast Division.

Fans still play a key role in determining winners and can vote for their favourite songs and artistes in fan-driven categories: Most Popular Artiste (Singapore), Most Popular Song (Singapore), APM Most Popular Artiste, APM Most Popular Song, Social Media Icon and Social Media Nova.
