SINGAPORE — This year’s edition of the Singapore Hit Awards (SHA) promises to pack a punch, with performances by renowned Mandopop artistes from the region. But just in case you need more motivation, here are five good reasons you should waste little time in getting your tickets.
1. Captain Cool is going to
be there
Yes, that’s Julian Cheung of popular Hong Kong television series Triumph In The Skies II. And he’s going to be performing a Cantonese song that won’t be broadcast on TV or radio (the only way to hear that track is to head on down).
2. SHA 2013 is going to be a mass karaoke session
Since it’s the 30th anniversary of Singapore’s premier Mandarin chart show, Pick Of The Pops (POTP), local acts MICappella, The Freshman and Ruth Kueo will be performing a 10-minute medley of Mandopop’s greatest hits. Taiwanese singer Chou Hui will also be singing a collection of hit tunes, and a song from her new album, Beautiful World.
3. It’s going to be a party — which will be massive
Taiwanese pop star Wilber Pan has been confirmed for the opening act, while Cantopop trio Grasshopper — who will be receiving the Honorary Award — will be rounding off the show with a selection of their most popular dance tunes.
4. You’ll see a lot of stars
Apart from those we’ve already mentioned, Hong Kong stars Karen Mok and Denise Ho, Taiwan’s Alien Huan, Malaysia’s Penny Tai and Singapore’s Joi Chua, Olivia Ong, Derrick Hoh and Xiaohan are among more than 30 artistes who’ll be attending.
5. Ten years later ...
You’ll laugh along when we run photos like the one below!
