MY SINGAPORE 2014: MOMENTS OF LOVE. First started by local singer/songwriter Lorraine Tan in 2011, the My Singapore Project aims to bring make contributions to the less fortunate via music and the arts, with the production of an original theme song and music video in celebration of National Day. This year, the official beneficiary is President’s Challenge 2014. The charity concert will feature a range of guest performers, including local artistes Nathan Hartono, Eric Du Xin and Goh Kheng Long, as well as performances by CapitalKids, Bellydance Extraordinaire and Crestar School of Dance. PENTATONIX LIVE IN SINGAPORE. The five-piece vocal sensations, who shot to fame on NBC’s The Sing-Off, perform in Singapore for the first time singing their signature a capella covers, as well as some of their original songs. VCH CHAMBER SERIES: BACH AND FAMILY I. The Singapore Symphony Orchestra will be playing music from the talented Bach family with guest violinist Peter Hanson. GALA: RETURN OF THE BRUBECK. The renowned Brubeck Brothers will perform with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) to kick off SCO’s 2014-2015 season. The quartet and SCO will be playing jazz pieces. FOOTPRINTS: CELEBRATING 40 YEARS OF MUSIC-MAKING. The City Chinese Orchestra – along with Cultural Medallion winning musical director Dr Tay Teow Kiat – will be collaborating with dizi maestro Zhan Yong Ming and acclaimed Mongolian singers, Zhang Feng Lian and Ding Ba Te to perform a series of performances of well-known concertos and pieces.
