SINGAPORE — Avid listeners of Mediacorp’s GOLD 905 can expect a few changes when they tune in starting Monday (Feb 22).

The radio station’s refreshed line-up will see Mike Kasem now paired up with Vernetta Lopez for the morning slot, with their LIVE! show, running from 6am to 10am, replacing the previous Mike And Joe Xperiment, as Joe Augustin leaves Mediacorp.

Augustin will leave Mediacorp on Feb 20. He re-joined Mediacorp’s Lush 99.5FM in August 2011, moved to Class 95FM in August 2013 and eventually on GOLD 905 in March 2015.

“I love radio and this past year I have loved the GOLD 905 audience. I will miss them both,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jamie Yeo takes over Lopez’s late afternoon slot with her show Homestretch, from 5pm to 8pm, and the night show Nite Flite sees popular producer-presenter William Xavier (Mr X) coming on board. Meanwhile, Denise Tan continues to hold her lunchtime slot, from 10am to 2pm.

On her return to the morning show, Lopez said: “I’m happy to be back on the mornings. Mike and I go back a long way and we’re great friends."

Xavier described his new hosting duties as a “homecoming of sorts”. The former 938LIVE presenter said: “Music has always been my first love, but I’m still a news junkie and am happy to bring a topical sensibility to my show.”

“We are continuously shaping GOLD 905’s programmes to stay engaged with our audience,” said programming head Erina Cook. “I’m confident that our discerning listeners from their 40s will welcome the refreshing ‘feel-good’ experience these new plans offer.”

On Augustin’s departure, she added: “It has been a fulfilling year with Joe on GOLD 905’s morning show and we wish him the very best for the future.”

The new Saturday programmes will be the rock music belt Rock Of Ages from 6pm to 10pm, followed by disco-themed Solid Gold until 2am.

Next month, GOLD 905 also hits the small-screen with the weekly Feel Good Minute snippets offering a quick quite of where to go and what to do. It debuts on March 17 at 7.20pm on Channel 5.
