SINGAPORE – The Spring Wave 2015 Music Festival, which was to have been held on Oct 10 at Fort Canning Green, has been cancelled in light of the “worsening and persistent haze situation”.

The six-hour concert, billed as Asia’s top Mandopop outdoor music festival, featured a line-up of rock stars from Taiwan, including veteran rocker Wu Bai And China Blue, Chang Chen-Yue, Luantan Ascent, Buddha Jump and Auntie Roxy.

In a press release, event organiser Friendly Dog Entertainment Co. Ltd said they had tried to source for alternative venues for the music festival to no avail. Last week, a video by headliner Wu Bai, asking fans to join him at Fort Canning Green, was posted on the Spring Wave Facebook page.

“While we recognise and appreciate all the work that has gone to the preparations in organising the festival, we knew that this decision will disappoint fans, but hope that they can appreciate the decision we have to make,” said Mr Shen Kuang-Yuan, founder of Friendly Dog Entertainment.

“At the same time, we want to thank fans and partners for the continuous support we had for the past two concerts and will look forward to your support in our future events.”

In the statement, the organisers also explained why the show was not postponed instead. “It was difficult to secure a similar venue which would create the same atmosphere within a short period of time where all the artistes could commit their time to perform live.

“We have been monitoring the news in Singapore and have exhausted other alternatives before coming to this decision. Hence, it is with deep regret that we have to cancel the festival this time round.”

Friendly Dog Entertainment said fans who have purchased tickets to this edition of Spring Wave can get in touch with their respective ticketing agents – SISTIC (www.sistic.com.sg) or EventClique (email: askeve [at] eventclique.com) – for information about refunds.
