My awkward moment: Yvonne Lim
SINGAPORE — You’d think an actress like Yvonne Lim would be used to intimate scenes with various male actors, but it seems her shyness has increased since she found Mr Right.
Not a real wedding: Yvonne Lim and Yao Wen Long in Blessings.
SINGAPORE — You’d think an actress like Yvonne Lim would be used to intimate scenes with various male actors, but it seems her shyness has increased since she found Mr Right.
If you’ve been watching the drama Blessings, which airs nightly on MediaCorp TV Channel 8, you’ll know that she and Yao Wen Long play a married couple — who have lots of scenes set in their bedroom.
“Any private talk always happens in the bedroom for a couple, especially if you’re living with a big family,” Lim explained. And in the show, “we have a daughter, so, being the doting father he is, he wants her to have a sibling. And, just like a real couple, the wife is hesitant because she has other plans.”
It sounds racy, but Lim hastened to add a caveat: “Of course it’s PG — there’s nothing too explicit in MediaCorp dramas. But it’s still awkward in the sense that you have to be close to somebody. And you know I’m getting married, and I’m in bed with someone, and the man is not (my fiance)!” She laughed. “It’s also awkward in the sense that Alex doesn’t know about these bed scenes. But I think it’s okay — he’s not too bothered about stuff like that.”
During the time of filming, Lim and her bethrothed, Alex Tien, had yet to have their pre-wedding photos taken. “There is a wedding photo of me and Wen Long hanging over our bed on set. Wen Long was joking that we should just cut out his face and put Alex’s face on top,” Lim giggled. “I was okay with that because I think I look good in the photo, but I guess it’s not happening!”
