SINGAPORE – Two batches of London Choco Roll – a popular confectionary product here – have been withdrawn from the shelves after mould was found on the cakes.
SINGAPORE – Two batches of London Choco Roll – a popular confectionary product here – have been withdrawn from the shelves after the cakes were found to have mould on them.
According to a statement from the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) on Wednesday (Aug 30), it received feedback that mould was found in some pieces of its “Double choco milk cream cake”.
The affected batches of the cake have expiry dates on Aug 29, 2018 and Sept 1, 2018.
The AVA said a sealing defect during production of the cakes – which are manufactured in Malaysia – could have caused the mould to appear.
Following news of the recall, some supermarkets have also removed the affected products from stores and offered refunds.
A spokesman for Giant supermarket said it was notified of the voluntary recall by the supplier on Tuesday (Aug 29) and "action was taken immediately to remove the affected products from all stores".
A spokesman for Sheng Siong supermarket said: "We have recalled the affected batches of London Choco Roll (double choco milk cream cake) today (Aug 30), customers who have bought the affected products from our stores can bring their purchase back for refund or exchange."
The product is not carried in Cold Storage stores.
Consumers who have purchased the two affected batches are advised not to consume the products. They may also contact the distributor at sales [at] brilliant-marketing.com or call 66945879 for an exchange or refund.
The distributor of London Choco Roll could not be reached for comments as at 5pm on Wednesday.
