SINGAPORE — Singaporeans no longer have to travel too far to get their gourmet food court fix. PasarBella has opened a second venue at Suntec City, comprising 14 gourmet concept stalls and one retail store spread across a 7,000 sqf space.

It’s hard to hear the words “food court” and not envision the cliched fast food offerings found at almost every mall. Not to say that a fine bowl of bak chor mee isn’t a worthy lunchtime fix, but PasarBella, which is known for its Farmer’s Market experience of niche food and drink purveyors at The Grandstand in Bukit Timah, has long been one of those players determined to improve on the genre.

And the big draw that comes with combining the spontaneous food court experience with gourmet eateries and grocers is reflected in the variety of choices at PasarBella@Suntec. Some of the new and hip names it touts include Wolf Burgers, a new burger concept by the team behind Carvers & Co; Pimp My Salad, a bespoke salad bar hoping to revolutionise healthy fast food; and Rollie Olie, an “Asian Fusion” eatery that serves playful, innovative sushi rolls and a selection of poke bowls. (Its spin on the chirashi, for example, features tuna and salmon cubes with a salad mix, avocado, tamago, sesame seeds and salmon roe — all dressed in your choice of yuzu, gochujang (Korean chilli sauce) and wasabi sauce.)

The variety here ranges from the New York delicatessen-inspired Porsena Deli to the authentic taste of Vietnam found in An-An’s dishes of beef pho, spring rolls and salads, prepared by a veteran chef with over 25 years of experience. There is also a take on familiar street food at GRILLLO, a newly-launched skewers concept that’s perfect for busy professional on the go; as well as Cajun On Wheels, which channels the gourmet food truck spirit with its fresh, quintessentially Louisiana-style seafood offerings.

And no gourmet food market would be complete without a range of cold-pressed juices, frozen yogurts and artisanal coffee to choose from. There are also alcoholic options at the aptly dubbed DRINKS! stall, if you fancy a craft beer over a teh tarik.
