Beyond existing malls ramping up their offerings to woo customers, operators are also redeveloping existing malls or constructing new ones to offer fresh new looks and shops. Here are some new malls you can look forward to in the near future.

Tiong Bahru Plaza

Shoppers can look forward to Tiong Bahru Plaza’s brand new look — inspired by the history and eclectic character of the Tiong Bahru neighbourhood — as well as new tenant offerings upon its full completion at the end of this year. The upgrading works, which started last year and has been progressively completed in stages, include a physical upgrading and also a change to its positioning, trade and tenant mix. There’s a newly created food street at level 2, a playground at level 3, as well as a community space at its roof terrace at level 4.

Northpoint City

Located at Yishun, new mall Northpoint City will be the largest retail mall in the North of Singapore upon completion in 2018. It will house 500 retail outlets, a first-of-its-kind Community Club within a shopping mall, a roof-top Community Garden and a vibrant Town Plaza, equivalent to the size of approximately 10 basketball courts for hosting a myriad of cultural and community events. Northpoint City will also include a 12-block residential development comprising 920 residences.

Hillion Mall

Estimated to be ready sometime end of this year or early next year, this new shopping centre in Bukit Panjang will be conveniently linked to Bukit Panjang MRT, and will see more than 100 retail shops spread over four levels. The mall promises plenty dining choices, boutiques stores, daily grocery shopping needs, and banks.

Singapore Post Centre

Singapore Post Centre will be redeveloped into the first local shopping mall that offers a complete suite of eCommerce logistics solutions, connecting online and offline shopping. It will have SingPost’s flagship post office, a Golden Village Cineplex, retail shops, and food and beverage outlets. The new concept allows shoppers to browse in-store, purchase and arrange for delivery before carrying on with dining or watching a movie — all without having to face the hassle of carrying bulky shopping bags. The mall will be located next to Paya Lebar MRT station, and is scheduled to complete by the middle of next year.

Funan

Aimed to be completed three years from now, Funan will be redeveloped and redesigned as a “lifestyle destination”. Works done to the integrated development, which will cost S$560 million, will nearly double the complex’s floor area to 887,000sqft, and will comprise serviced residences, six floors of retail stores and two office towers. Highlights include a six-storey wooden and steel structure called The Tree of Life which will house new retail concepts or studios, a climbing wall and indoor cycling lanes — the first in Singapore’s shopping centres.
