Singapore — At 44, Julian Cheung Chi-Lam is Fancl’s first male celebrity ambassador. TODAY speaks to the Hong Kong star on what keeps him looking so fresh-faced.

Q: As Fancl’s first male celebrity ambassador, do you find that men are getting more vain in general?

A: I think ensuring we look good is a form of courtesy. Just because you are looking after yourself, it doesn’t mean you are vain. With everyone being so active on social media, it’s so easy to compare yourself with others. I think that’s why men are becoming more aware of their appearances.

Q: How did you first learn about Fancl?

A: It was actually through my wife (Hong Kong actress Anita Yuen). I saw how the products were really easy to use and, being the typical man, really liked how Fancl was so practical. So I started using it and loved how clean and hydrated my skin felt.

Q: What are some skincare concerns you face now that you are in your 40s?

A: I find that these days, my skin is getting better and better! When I was younger, I had problems like pimples and dark eye circles. Now, I don’t! I guess part of the reason is that I’m looking after myself more than when I was younger.

Q: But you don’t look a day over 30. What tips can you share on maintaining your looks?

A: Do things that make you happy! I think it’s important to keep yourself in a good mood. Eat things you like, exercise regularly and take care of your skin. I don’t particularly watch what I eat as long as it makes me happy. My weakness is desserts. I love sweet stuff! But I also burn it all off by staying active, going for a run, and so on. As an artiste, I wear a lot of makeup so I really have to ensure I clean it all off at the end of the day. Fancl’s Mild Cleansing Oil is another favourite of mine because it’s so good at removing make-up. Deborah Tan
