SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed 15 new cases of Covid-19, with five that are imported and 10 linked to migrant workers staying in dormitories.
There are no community cases on Thursday (Sept 24).
The Ministry of Health (MOH) said that a majority of the fresh cases — 13 in all — have no symptoms.
The five imported cases comprise of one Singaporean, one permanent resident, one work pass holder, one dependant’s pass holder and one long-term visit pass holder.
They had arrived from India and Indonesia between Sept 12 and 22.
MOH said that the five were placed on 14-day stay-home notices and tested positive while serving their notices at dedicated facilities.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has remained stable at an average of fewer than one case a day in the past 14 days.
The number of cases in the community with no known sources of infection has also remained stable at an average of fewer than one a day in the two past weeks.
Of the 10 new cases involving migrant workers in dormitories, five had been identified earlier as contacts of previous cases.
The remaining five were detected through surveillance testing, such as Rostered Routine Testing under MOH and the testing of those with acute respiratory infection symptoms.
Separately, MOH has been monitoring existing clusters for any further transmission.
“As there have been no more cases linked to the dormitory at 15 Kaki Bukit Crescent for the past two incubation periods, the cluster has now been closed,” it said.
UPDATES ON REMAINING CASES
The total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 57,654.
Of these, 57,333 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including 42 on Thursday.
There are still 28 patients in hospitals and most are in stable condition or improving. No one is in intensive care.
Another 266 patients are isolated and being cared for at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.
Twenty seven people have died from complications due to Covid-19.
