A man, 36, was sentenced to 28 years in jail and 24 strokes of the cane after pleading guilty to raping his stepdaughter

His stepdaughter was only nine years old when he started sexually assaulting her over a three-year period

The man took advantage of the victim's mother being hospitalised and found himself alone with the victim.

His actions were eventually uncovered by the victim's sister through messages on Instagram
