SINGAPORE — Finding an ink stain on one’s jeans at 10,000 metres is not ideal, but thanks to a quick-thinking Singapore Airlines (SIA) cabin crew member, one passenger’s in-flight mishap turned into a viral feel-good moment.

In a post on TikTok on Aug 6 that has since gone viral, Ms Paige Parker, 55, shared her experience trying to remove a stain from her jeans.

In response to TODAY's queries, Ms Parker said the incident unfolded when she was seated in business class on an SIA flight from Singapore to Munich on Aug 6.

"Just before my flight, I was in the middle of filling out some paperwork with a ballpoint pen when I noticed it was leaking," she recounted.

"To my dismay, I saw a small ink stain on my jeans. I tried the classic move of using soda water to dab it off, but unfortunately, that didn’t do the trick."

Ms Parker had changed into another set of clothes by this point.

In a "friendly chat" with a cabin crew member she referred to as Aiden, she asked him "almost jokingly" if SIA had any stain removers, expecting the answer would be no.

"When I mentioned something like the Tide Stain Remover, he surprised me by saying he had something even better from his personal stash," she added.

In the video she filmed of herself, Ms Parker said: “I'm trusting Aiden, y’all,” before placing the blotting sheet underneath her jeans to begin applying the fabric spot remover.

Her TikTok video removing the stain and praising "Aiden" has attracted over 41,000 views and 1,700 likes.

Ms Parker moved from New York to Singapore in 2007 and is an author who also hosts a podcast featuring interviews with successful professionals.

She is married to the noted investor and financial commentator Jim Rogers.

‘MAGIC JUICE’

The two minute and 19 second video sees Ms Parker cleaning a spot from her jeans in her plane seat thanks to the “magic juice” and “miracle” spot remover from Japan given to her by "Aiden".

“I’ve always used a Tide stick, I’ve never used this before but he says it works like magic,” said Ms Parker.

She presented the small blue ink stain on her jeans to the camera before uncapping and applying the solution — but not before a quick pause to take a sip of some “bubbly”.

As she started to apply it, "Aiden" is walking by with a tray of empty glasses and offered to help, before Ms Parker mentioned that she was recording a video.

With a smile, he said: “So sorry to interrupt,” when noticing the camera, before continuing to remove the stain with deliberate strokes.

“It’ll be gone in seconds,” the cabin crew member assured Ms Parker.

Ms Parker showed the jeans to the camera, now with a white foam spot but no ink stain, to the camera as "Aiden" shows her the blue ink spot on the blotting paper removed from the jeans.

Calling the stain removal “amazing", she thanked "Aiden", before flashing a photo of the “hero product” in case any of her viewers would like to purchase it while in Japan.

‘GENUINE AND FRIENDLY’

TikTok users were quick to commend the cabin crew member, lauding his proactive and helpful service.

One user named “woshiiksc” said, “Aiden is super genuine and friendly!”

Other TikTok users had apparently encountered "Aiden" before.

One described him as “lovely”, while a user called “Cheryl Teh” said that he was “such an angel”.

The same user said that she had written him a compliment letter after a flight to India, to praise him for being “incredibly kind”.

“SQ (Singapore Airlines) is just best isn’t it! Especially the customer service,” said one user called “kam”.

Ms Parker responded to the user and said this experience was “way beyond good service”, as Aiden had offered her the stain remover from his personal items.

This prompted another former SIA passenger to comment on their experience receiving a sealed, new lip balm because they had forgotten their own, which they guessed was from the flight crew’s “personal stash”.

Other users were quick to comment on their experience removing stains with various products — or ask where they could also purchase this “magic juice”.

One commenter named “Dana Teng” said that she carries the stain remover in her pouch at all times.

For another user, this video appearing on their feed was timely, as they were just about to use it on their white shirt.

Some came to the comments section to ask Ms Parker questions about whether the stain remover would leave a white patch after a wash.

“You can buy it in Donki in Singapore as well!” said one commenter, as others responded on what the stain remover’s brand was called.

Ms Parker told TODAY that "Aiden" had even messaged her on Instagram, thanking her for the TikTok video, which had caught the attention of his friends.

While she is a frequent flyer with SIA Airlines while travelling to visit her parents and for overseas commitments, Ms Parker said "Aiden" really "stood out" on this occasion for his kindness and quick thinking.

"I have to say, I didn’t expect such a simple incident to resonate with so many people! Stains are such a universal problem, but Aiden’s willingness to go the extra mile struck a chord," she said.

"It’s a reminder that sometimes, it’s the small acts of kindness that make the biggest impact."
