SINGAPORE — Avid gardeners and urban farmers may apply for 360 new allotment gardening plots across eight parks islandwide from Friday (Sept 24), the National Parks Board (NParks) said on Wednesday.

Of the new plots, 128 will be at Bedok Town Park, 62 at Sengkang Riverside Park and 60 at Jurong Central Park.

The remaining will be at:

  • Chua Chu Kang Park

  • Pasir Ris Park

  • Yishun Park

  • Kallang Riverside Park

  • Tiong Bahru Park

This latest release of new plots brings the total number of allotment garden plots to more than 2,000 across 23 parks and gardens in Singapore.

Online applications for the new plots will close at 10am on Oct 6 and the plots will be allocated via computerised balloting.

Each plot comprises a raised planter bed measuring 2.5m by 1m and will be leased for up to three years at S$57 yearly (excluding Goods and Services Tax).

The online application form and more information regarding the plots can be found on NParks' website under the Gardening webpage.

Successful applicants will be notified on the outcome of their application within three months from the closing date.

What NParks calls "allotment gardening plots" were first piloted in 2016 at Hort Park along Alexandra Road. Since then, gardeners who are part of the community of urban farmers have used such plots to plant vegetables, for instance.
