SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed 396 new cases of Covid-19, including three in the community and three that are imported. The remaining 390 are migrant workers staying in dormitories.

In a press release on Friday (July 31), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that the three imported cases include a Singaporean and a permanent resident who returned to Singapore from India on July 3 and July 19. The remaining case is a dependant’s pass holder who arrived from India on July 19.

All of them had been placed on a 14-day stay-home notice upon arrival in Singapore, and were serving it at dedicated facilities. They had tested positive for Covid-19 while serving their stay-home notice, MOH said.

Of the three community cases, one is a work pass holder, and another a work permit holder. The third is a short-term visit pass holder who arrived in Singapore in December 2019. Her pass had been extended as she was receiving medical treatment for an unrelated condition, the ministry added.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has gone down from an average of eight a day in the week before, to an average of three a day in the past week, MOH said.

The number of cases in the community with no known sources of infection has also gone down from an average of four a day in the week before, to an average of one a day in the past week.

“We will continue to closely monitor these numbers, as well as the cases detected through our surveillance programme,” MOH said.

UPDATES ON THE REMAINING CASES

In all, the total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 52,205.

Of these, 46,491 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including the 183 on Friday.

There are still 136 patients in hospitals and most are in stable condition or improving. No one is in critical condition under intensive care.

Another 5,551 patients are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.

Twenty-seven people have died from complications due to Covid-19.
