447 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore; 5 new clusters emerge

SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed 447 new cases of Covid-19 infection the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Saturday (May 2), bringing the total to 17,548.
Of the 447 cases, six of the infections were from the community — four Singaporeans or permanent residents and two work pass holders.
MOH said in a statement that the number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of 23 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 12 per day in the past week.
The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased, from an average of 14 cases per day in the week before, to an average of six per day in the past week.
The bulk of the new cases — 431 of them — are linked to foreign workers residing in the dormitories, while 10 others were linked to those staying outside the dormitories.
The health ministry also identified five new clusters of infections.
They are at 5 Neythal Road, 34 Sungei Kadut Loop, 16 Tuas Avenue 3, 21 Tuas View Square and 2 Tuas South Street 2.
CASE IN HEALTHCARE SECTOR
The ministry also identified one case within the public healthcare sector.
Case 17,267 is a 27 year-old male Malaysian national who has no recent travel history to affected countries or regions.
He was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on April 30 and is currently warded at National University Hospital (NUH).
He is employed as a housekeeper at NUH but had not gone to work since onset of symptoms.
UPDATE ON OTHER CASES
MOH said that in all, 1,347 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities, including 79 who were discharged on Saturday.
There are currently 1,710 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 24 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Another 14,474 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.
