SINGAPORE — An injured six-year-old girl was taken to the KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital early on Friday (July 3) after the minibus in which she was a passenger ploughed into a stationary taxi near Hougang.
The police said on Friday that they were alerted to the accident at the junction of Tampines Road and Defu Avenue 1 at about 8.25am. A second taxi was also caught up in the accident.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force was also alerted to the accident about the same time.
“A six-year-old girl, who was a passenger of the minibus, was conscious when taken to KK Women's and Children's Hospital,” the police said.
In videos circulating on social media, taken on a dashcam camera, a white minibus can be seen veering into the right lane of Tampines Road before hitting a taxi.
The impact caused damage to the front passenger side of the taxi as the minibus tipped onto its side.
After that, a man popped the back door of the minibus open from inside and can be seen ushering several children wearing school uniform out of the vehicle.
A member of the public in running gear was seen helping to usher children to the side of the road.
Police investigations are ongoing.
