SINGAPORE — A 54-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday (Oct 27) for allegedly murdering a 63-year-old man in a Housing and Development Board flat in Ang Mo Kio.
The police said that they were alerted to a case of unnatural death on Sunday at about 5.45am.
The man was found lying motionless in a third-storey unit at Block 633, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6. He was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
The police have classified the case as murder, with preliminary investigations showing that both of them knew each other. TODAY understands that they were a couple.
The woman is understood to be a Chinese national while the man is a Singaporean.
The woman will be charged on Monday with murder.
Neighbours living on the second floor below the unit told reporters that they heard sounds of struggle at about 5.30am, before the woman was taken out in handcuffs by police officers at around 7am.
The woman is “big-sized” and around 1.7m to 1.75m tall, neighbours said, and that she is bigger and taller than the man.
One of the neighbours said in Mandarin she had seen the pair around with a young child, and described them as a “very loving couple” who frequently patronised the nearby market.
Neighbours said there were five people living in the unit — the couple, their granddaughter and her parents. They moved in about two to three years ago.
The older couple were always seen holding hands, with their granddaughter who is about one to two years old.
But neighbours said they have not seen the occupants recently.
