SINGAPORE — Eight teenagers aged between 11 and 14 are under investigation over a rioting incident in Serangoon that left a 15-year-old boy injured.

In a statement on Thursday (Jan 26), the police said that they received a call for assistance at a fitness corner near Block 201 Serangoon Central around 4.15pm on Jan 15.

The 15-year-old was taken conscious to the hospital.

The group of eight, comprising both boys and girls, are assisting with investigations into a case of rioting, the police added.

Videos and screenshots of the incident circulating online showed a group of teenagers surrounding a youth before kicking and pinning him to the ground.

The victim is seen seated on one of the fitness machines at the start of the video when one of the teenagers standing in front of him kicks him in the face.

He is then kicked on the side by two other teenagers and falls off the equipment as the three boys close in and begin punching and kicking him.

The victim is seen lying on the ground while trying to parry the blows with his arms as the boys continue to punch, kick and elbow him in the head and upper body.

Investigations are ongoing.
