SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed 931 new cases of Covid-19 infection, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) in a press release on Sunday (April 26).

This brings the total number of cases here to 13,624.

There were two new imported cases reported, said MOH. Both are Singaporeans who had been placed on a stay-home notice upon their arrival in Singapore on April 10. These are the first imported cases to be reported here since April 17.

There were 18 new cases reported in the community, consisting of 13 Singaporeans and permanent residents as well as five work pass holders.

MOH said the number of new community cases has decreased from an average of 31 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 21 per day in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from an average of 21 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 14 per day in the past week.

There were 25 new cases among work permit holders residing outside dormitories. The number of new cases in this group has continued to increase, said MOH, from an average of 20 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 26 per day in the past week.

There were 886 new cases among work permit holders residing in dormitories.

“The main increase today continues to be for work permit holders residing in dormitories, where we are picking up many more cases because of extensive testing,” said MOH. Most of these cases have mild illness and are being monitored in community isolation facilities or in the general wards of hospitals, with no cases in the intensive care unit.

MOH said that out of the new cases, 74 per cent are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing. In the past week, the ministry has uncovered links for 1,280 previously unlinked cases.

Four new clusters have also been uncovered. The new clusters are located at Proptech Pte Ltd (38 Senoko Road), 5 Kian Teck Crescent, 3 Sungei Kadut Street 6 and 133 Tuas View Square.

Meanwhile, the existing clusters at Singapore Cricket Club at A Connaught Drive and the Wedding Brocade at 1 Yishun Industrial Street 1 have been closed as there have been no new cases linked to them for the past 28 days.

A total of 58 more cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities, MOH added, bringing the number of patients who have fully recovered from the infection and been discharged here to 1,060.

Out of the 1,311 confirmed cases who are still in hospital, most are stable or improving. Twenty-two are in critical condition in the intensive care unit while 11,241 patients are isolated and being cared for at community facilities. Twelve have died from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
