SINGAPORE — All residents of a public housing block in Jurong West will have to undergo mandatory Covid-19 tests after 14 people were found to be infected by the coronavirus there, though those who have tested negative for the disease from Aug 13 onwards need not do so.

In a press statement on Monday (Aug 16), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that it was investigating likely Covid-19 transmission at Block 695 Jurong West Central 1.

So far, 14 cases have been detected in six households living in the block.

“Epidemiological investigations are ongoing to determine linkages and the source of transmission,” it said.

MOH will conduct the mandatory tests for the residents of the block at the void deck of the block on Tuesday between 9am and 4pm.

Leaflets have been distributed and SMS notifications by phone have been sent to the residents of the block to provide them with more information.

Residents are reminded to keep to their appointment time.

“Those who are still awaiting their test results are advised to minimise social interactions as much as possible,” MOH said.

“They should continue to monitor their health and seek immediate medical attention if they feel unwell.”
