Covid-19: 2 new cases in Singapore, as new cluster emerges at Wizlearn Technologies in Science Park

SINGAPORE — There are two new cases of Covid-19 infection in Singapore, and a new cluster has emerged at Wizlearn Technologies, an e-learning solutions provider.

SINGAPORE — There are two new cases of Covid-19 infection in Singapore, and a new cluster has emerged at Wizlearn Technologies, an e-learning solutions provider.

Three patients have been discharged, raising the number of those who have recovered to 69, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Friday (Feb 28).

The two new cases are linked to a cluster at Wizlearn Technologies, where four cases have emerged.

Located at 10 Science Park Road, the company counts several government institutions, such as the Ministry of Education, the Health Promotion Board and National Healthcare Group, among its clients.

ABOUT THE NEW CASES

Case 97

  • A 44-year-old female Singapore permanent resident (PR) who has not recently travelled to China, or to Daegu or Cheongdo — the epicentres of the outbreak in South Korea.

  • She is linked to Cases 93 and 95.

  • She reported an onset of symptoms on Feb 20 and sought treatment at a general practitioner (GP) clinic on the same day.

  • As she was identified as a close contact of Case 93, she was referred to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases on Feb 27 and isolated. She tested positive for Covid-19 infection on the same day.

  • Before she was admitted to hospital, she had gone to work at Wizlearn Technologies and attended a meeting at the Agency for Integrated Care at 5 Maxwell Road.

  • She lives at Choa Chu Kang North 5.

Case 98

  • A 24-year-old male Singapore PR who has no recent travel history to China, Daegu or Cheongdo.

  • He was diagnosed with Covid-19 infection on Friday morning.

  • He is linked to Cases 93, 95 and 97.

LINKS BETWEEN PREVIOUS CASES

Further epidemiological investigations and contact tracing have uncovered links between previously announced and new cases, MOH said. This was made possible with the assistance of the Singapore Police Force.

  • Six of the locally transmitted confirmed cases (Cases 31, 33, 38, 83, 90 and 91), as well as Cases 8 and 9, are linked to The Life Church and Missions Singapore (146B Paya Lebar Road).

  • These six cases are now linked to another 23 confirmed cases (Cases 48, 49, 51, 53, 54, 57, 58, 60, 61, 62, 63, 66, 67, 68, 70, 71, 73, 74, 78, 80, 81, 84 and 88) who are connected to the Grace Assembly of God.

  • Nine of the confirmed cases (Cases 19, 20, 21, 24, 25, 27, 28, 34 and 40) are linked to Yong Thai Hang (24 Cavan Road), a health product shop off Lavender Street.

  • Three of the confirmed cases (Cases 30, 36 and 39) are linked to the private business meeting held at the Grand Hyatt Singapore from Jan 20 to 22.

  • Five of the confirmed cases (Cases 42, 47, 52, 56 and 69) are linked to the Seletar Aerospace Heights construction site.

  • Four of the confirmed cases (Cases 93, 95, 97 and 98) are linked to Wizlearn Technologies.
