SINGAPORE — A 56-year-old man has been hospitalised following an accident involving two lorries and a car at the junction of Pioneer Road and Jurong West Avenue 5 on Friday (March 25) morning.

The police said in response to TODAY’s queries that they were alerted to the accident at around 8.30am, and that the man was the driver of one of the lorries.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that when they arrived at the scene of the accident, they found the man trapped in his seat and they had to free him using a hydraulic rescue equipment.

He was then taken to the National University Hospital, though no details of his injuries were mentioned. Neither the police nor SCDF provided information on the state of the other drivers involved.

Videos of the aftermath have since circulated online.

The videos show a tipper truck lying sideways on the driver’s side along Pioneer Road North, towards the direction of Upper Jurong Road, having appeared to have crashed through the road barriers.

In some videos, smoke can be seen coming out from the undercarriage of the toppled truck.

The contents of the fallen truck — which appear to be metal debris — are seen spilled across the road.
