SINGAPORE — The former primary school teacher who committed indecent acts on a 13-year-old student, including kissing him on the lips and giving him love bites on his neck and shoulder, was sentenced to six months’ jail today (Feb 19).

The 42-year-old woman cannot be named due to a gag order.

The former teacher became acquainted with the victim and his sisters in early 2012.

Her son was in the same football team as the victim, whose sisters attended the dance class she was in charge of.

Between October and November 2012, the mother of four would go on dates with the victim.

She would have meals with the boy at McDonald’s outlets before committing indecent acts on him.

During sentencing, District Judge Ng Peng Hong noted that the accused had no antecedents.

The defence had argued that the woman suffered from major depressive disorder during the time of the offences, but the judge found no causal link between her condition and her actions.

The judge added that sexual exploitation of the vulnerable is unacceptable.

Noting that the offences were committed on four occasions, the judge said the accused had breached the trust placed in her by the school and the victim’s parents.

As such, the judge found the accused not suitable for probation. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
