Fire breaks out at Sunville condo near Bendemeer

SINGAPORE — About 100 people self-evacuated from a condominium near Bendemeer after a fire broke out there on Wednesday (Feb 10) evening.

SINGAPORE — About 100 people self-evacuated from a condominium near Bendemeer after a fire broke out there on Wednesday (Feb 10) evening.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that it was alerted to the fire at 22 St Michael’s Road at about 7pm.

That is the address of Sunville condominium. There were no reported injuries.

SCDF said that the fire was linked to the contents of a bedroom in an apartment on the sixth floor.

Officers extinguished the fire using a water jet and two hose reels.

About 100 people had self-evacuated from the affected premises before SCDF’s arrival.

In a video sent to TODAY, a raging fire can be seen emerging from the windows of the affected apartment as a fire alarm is heard in the background.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, SCDF said.
