SINGAPORE — The authorities on Tuesday (Aug 18) reminded employers to send eligible migrant workers for Rostered Routine Testing (RRT), with 118,000 workers required to undergo the tests yet to be scheduled for them so far.

It was previously announced that the following groups of workers must undergo the RRT every 14 days: All migrant workers living in dormitories, those employed in the construction, marine and process sectors, as well as those who have to go into work sites.

This is part of the safeguard put in place to ensure the safe restart of work, the authorities had said.

In a joint statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Manpower, the Building and Construction Authority, the Economic Development Board and the Health Promotion Board (HPB) said that to date, about 15,000 employers (or 78 per cent) have logged in to HPB’s Swab Registration System to schedule their workers for the routine testing.

“Some employers have scheduled some but not all of their workers, especially those who stay at recently cleared dormitories. Employers are reminded to quickly schedule their workers if they have not done so,” the statement said.

Currently, the SGWorkPass mobile application for all work pass holders, excluding foreign domestic workers, has an AccessCode feature that enables dormitory operators, employers and workers to check on the work status of workers.

The authorities said on Tuesday that they are planning to update the AccessCode system “such that workers who are required to undergo RRT but fail to do so will have a Red AccessCode”, which will bar these workers from working.

To avoid disruption to business operations, the authorities advised employers to schedule appointment slots for their workers early “so that they can secure a testing date at their preferred location”.

“Once the workers have been scheduled under the Swab Registration System for the first time, they will be automatically assigned new dates for future RRT swabs,” they said.

They also reminded employers to log in to the registration system regularly to check if there are new workers for whom they need to schedule appointments.

“We will be continuously adding new workers as their dormitories are cleared (of Covid-19), and the workers become due for RRT,” the authorities said.
