SINGAPORE — The health authorities are offering free Covid-19 tests for members of the public who had visited White Sands mall in Pasir Ris from May 2 to 11.
This is to "pre-emptively mitigate any potential risk of wider, undetected community transmission" as a few Covid-19 cases was at White Sands during their infectious period, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Monday (May 17).
The ministry will progressively inform these individuals via SMS notification with information on how to book an appointment for their test.
As a precautionary measure, staff members who work in the mall will also be tested.
MOH advised those who have visited the mall from May 2 to 11 to monitor their health closely for 14 days from their date of visit.
They are strongly encouraged to visit a regional screening centre or Swab and Send Home Public Health Preparedness Clinic for a free Covid-19 test if they feel unwell, it added.
A 22 year-old Singaporean man who works as a cook at Wok Hey stall in White Sands was confirmed to have Covid-19 on May 13.
Last week, MOH similarly announced that those who have visited Changi Airport Terminal 3 from May 3 onwards will be offered free Covid-19 testing, in light of a growing cluster linked to a cleaner who was working there.
