SINGAPORE — From next year, GCE O-Level holders will start their Nitec courses in January instead of April under the new Synchronised Nitec Intake (SNI) exercise.
With the GCE O-Level examination results released in January in recent years, the SNI exercise will allow GCE O-Level holders to begin their courses and graduate three months earlier.
Next year, ITE will also offer a total of 123 full-time and traineeship courses for post-secondary education to GCE N- and O-Level holders.
This includes the new Nitec in Electronics (Display Technology) course and four revamped Nitec courses.
ITE said the new course will produce graduates who are able to install, operate, troubleshoot and maintain various video display systems for the next-generation digital displays.
This will meet the growing demand for skilled professionals to support the growing digital signage and digital display systems industry.
Next year will also see ITE’s three one-year Nitec courses in Service Skills (Office), Service Skills (Retail) and Service Skills (Tourism) revamped to four new two-year Nitec courses in Business Services, Finance Services, Retail Services and Travel & Tourism Services.
ITE said this is in line with the new Career Cluster-based Curriculum Framework to better prepare students for employability, flexibility and career advancement opportunities. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
