We used to come down here for breakfast... And we came here to relive the memories again. It's good for the new generation to know all the games like chapteh... Mr Rainer Vermehren, 47, and his wife Sonja, 40, and children Amelie, 9, and Sander, 7 were at the Botanic Gardens. Originally from Germany, they've lived here for a year and will stay for another year. Mr Vermehren said: "We're excited about SG50 because we're really learning about the history of Singapore. We think the country has done so much right in the last 50 years and our wish is the country continues to do that - that people look forward and continue to be honest and reliable and dependable." Mr Pierre Lim, 38, with his family and parents-in-law Mr Richard Tan, 65 and Mdm Jenny Low, 66, out to have a family picnic at the Botanic Gardens. It's also his children's first time to the Gardens. Mdm Low said: "It's the first time we're organizing a picnic with them. It's a happy occasion so everyone is enjoying. We're so happy and so proud that (the country) has achieved so much."
