SINGAPORE — Two men are being investigated for being a public nuisance after they were allegedly seen behaving in an unruly manner towards several service staff members at a restaurant in Punggol.

This update by the police on Tuesday came a day after they said that they had been alerted to the dispute at Fat Po restaurant and investigations are ongoing.

In their latest statement, the police said that they received a call for help from the restaurant located along Tebing Lane at about 8.25pm last Saturday.

The two men, aged 55 and 59, were allegedly seen behaving in an unruly manner towards several service staff members and they had purportedly thrown a plate onto the floor before leaving the premises.

Officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division managed to establish the identities of the two men through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from closed-circuit television cameras.

The incident was posted online via the Hawkers United — Dabao 2020 Facebook group on March 13, by a user who claimed to have witnessed it while having dinner.

In the account shared by the eyewitness, the two men had purportedly helped themselves to a table at Fat Po without queueing and ordered a jug of beer and some food, before one of them proceeded to start smoking.

The eyewitness said that the Fat Po crew then informed the man that smoking was not allowed there and it took much persuasion from the crew before the man went out to continue smoking.

The men then allegedly accused the Fat Po crew of having a bad attitude when their food was served, stating that the server had walked off after putting the plates down on their table.

One of the men, the eyewitness said, then proceeded to smash the plate of food on the floor.

When workers hurried over to clear up the mess, one of the men allegedly shoved a female staff member before moving to pick up the fallen pieces of food.

The offence of public nuisance carries a jail term of up to three months or a fine of up to S$2,000, or both.

The police said in their statement that they take a serious view of such acts and offenders will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
