SINGAPORE — Barely two years after it opened at Suntec City mall, indoor playground SuperPark closed its doors last Thursday (Oct 8).

Mr Anthony Yip, deputy chairman of APM Property Management, which manages Suntec City, said on Monday that it took possession of SuperPark’s premises last Thursday because the company was not able to come up with a concrete plan to restart operations.

“We were also informed that the holding company of SuperPark is under interim judicial management,” Mr Yip told TODAY.

The indoor activity park from Finland opened here in November 2018, charging S$35 for all-day passes on weekdays and S$48 on weekends.

It occupied a 40,000 sqf site — around three-quarters of a football field — and offered more than 20 activities in three themed zones for visitors of all ages.

The park was closed on April 1 this year due to the circuit breaker imposed in Singapore that halted non-essential activities to stop the spread of Covid-19.

On its Facebook page, it last posted on Aug 18 that it was recruiting a "part-time activity crew".

Mr Yip said that APM Property Management is reviewing various options on the use of SuperPark’s now-vacated premises.

Some of these include:

  • Leasing the space to other indoor playground operators

  • Converting the space into a play facility for shoppers

The mall manager is also considering inviting the interim judicial manager of SuperPark to submit a proposal to restart operations if they choose to do so.

TODAY is getting comments from SuperPark Singapore.

SuperPark’s website in Finland showed that it has 18 parks around the world.

It opened its first park in Asia in Hong Kong in December 2017, followed by one in Singapore and then in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
