Kidnap case: Police awarded for efforts

Singapore — Two police departments, four police units and 39 police officers were presented the Minister for Home Affairs Operational Excellence Awards this morning for the kidnap case which occurred last Thursday.

Singapore — Two police departments, four police units and 39 police officers were presented the Minister for Home Affairs Operational Excellence Awards this morning for the kidnap case which occurred last Thursday.

This is in recognition of their outstanding performance and excellent teamwork in the rescue of an elderly kidnap victim and arrest of two men in relation to the kidnapping case.

The two police departments are the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Police Intelligence Department (PID). The four police units are from the PID and the Special Operations Command.

The awards were presented by Guest-Of-Honour, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Mr Teo Chee Hean.

On Jan 9, 79-year-old Ng Lye Poh was kidnapped along Hougang Avenue 2. Her son, Sheng Siong chief executive Lim Hock Chee, made a police report. The case was solved within 12 hours.
