McDonald's to impose 2-person dining-in limit, regardless of vaccination status, from July 19

SINGAPORE — McDonald's Singapore will impose a two-person limit for people dining at its fast-food outlets, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated or not, from Monday (July 19) to Aug 8.

The Government's Covid-19 task force had on Friday announced the two-person cap, although it allowed people who are fully vaccinated to continue dining out in groups of up to five at eateries with mandatory SafeEntry contact-tracing systems, so that food-and-beverage (F&B) operators may check on the vaccination status of patrons. 

McDonald's said on Sunday that it is sticking to the two-person rule, regardless of vaccination status, due to the re-emergence of Covid-19 cases.

Mr Benjamin Boh, McDonald's Singapore's general manager, said: "As a brand that serves thousands of people of varying age groups every day, keeping our employees and customers safe remains our top priority.

"We appreciate the choice given to F&B establishments to decide which protocols work best for them, and we've decided on 2-pax dine-in as the safest option for our customers and employees."

Customers still have the option of ordering via delivery, drive-through and takeaway.
