SINGAPORE — MacPherson Member of Parliament Tin Pei Ling has made a second police report over a doctored image featuring her likeness that has been circulating on social media.
SINGAPORE — MacPherson Member of Parliament Tin Pei Ling has made a second police report over a doctored image featuring her likeness that has been circulating on social media.
The falsified image — first circulated in January — is based on a photo of a Chinese New Year banner that was put up in the MacPherson ward this year.
The banner featured Ms Tin, who is with the ruling People's Action Party (PAP), alongside a Chinese New Year greeting in English and Chinese.
In the doctored image, Ms Tin is seen in a revealing outfit, with the text edited to say “ENJOY HAPPY SAVINGS with Government U-SAVE Rebates!" and "Vote PAP for Prosperity and Power!"
When the photo was circulating online in January, she made a police report and the culprit was caught, Ms Tin said in a Facebook post on Monday (June 22).
She added that objectifying women in the manner seen in the photo showed a clear disrespect for women.
She filed the latest police report because the doctored photo has resurfaced and is making the rounds on social media again.
