SINGAPORE — To reflect its evolving approach and a renewed focus to connect and build strong and resilient Singaporean families, the National Family Council (NFC) today (Feb 7) announced that it will be renamed “Families for Life”.

This year, members of the public can expect several major events such as the National Family Celebrations, Singapore Parenting Congress and the Marriage Convention organised by the Council.

Apart from large-scale events, the Council also hopes to encourage families to spend more time beyond festive or special occasions through a “365-day approach”, which will see the Council stepping up its efforts to inspire two-way communication with families through social media platforms.

For instance, Families for Life had released a video on “family reunion” over the Chinese New Year and subsequently ran a Facebook contest to ask Singaporeans to contribute their personal reflections on their own family reunion dinners.

Other social media plans include live online chats and Instagram photo contests on National Family Celebrations.

The Families for Life Council is headed by Mr Ching Wei Hong, Chief Operating Officer, OCBC Bank, who recently took over in August last year.
